Ambulatory phlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that removes bulging veins from your legs, reducing any related physical discomfort while improving the appearance of your legs and increasing your body confidence.
Ambulatory phlebectomy is designed to remove bulging leg veins located on the surface of the skin that are too large to treat with sclerotherapy and too small to treat with endovenous laser ablation. During an ambulatory phlebectomy, veins are surgically removed through tiny incisions in your skin.
This procedure may be ideal for you if you have varicose veins, or larger veins that bulge above the surface of the skin and that are cosmetically unappealing and/or are causing you physical discomfort. This procedure is often performed in combination with endovenous laser ablation.
People have reported the following benefits:
- Improved quality and appearance of the legs
- Enhanced confidence in your overall appearance
- Relief from related symptoms, including pain, aching, swelling, and burning
- Fast healing and recovery time
- Permanent results
What to Expect
During an ambulatory phlebectomy, the surgeon will make tiny incisions in the skin over the affected veins, and then use specialized surgical tools to remove the veins.
Typically the incisions are so tiny that no stitches are needed.
Performed under local anesthesia, this outpatient procedure involves minimal downtime. We encourage patients to wear compression stockings for one week and to avoid hot baths, hot tubs, heavy lifting, and long travel during that time. Daily walking for healthy blood flow in the legs is also advised.
